HDPE Geocell

Product Introduction

Geocells are three-dimensional mesh-like cell structures formed by high-strength polyethylene (HDPE) sheets welded together with high strength.

If geogrids are the planar "skeleton," then geocells are like honeycomb-like "nursery bags." They not only provide tensile strength, but more importantly, they provide enormous lateral restraint.

Working Principle

1. Lateral Confinement Effect

This is the most basic function of geocells. In ordinary roadbeds, the fill material will be squeezed out to both sides under compression.

Physical Constraint: The cell walls restrict the lateral displacement of the fill material.

Friction: A huge frictional force is generated between the fill material and the cell walls.

Integrity: This constraint binds the loose fill material together, forming a composite with a certain apparent cohesion.

2. Membrane Effect

When a load is applied to the geocell, the geocell will experience slight settlement.

Stress Transformation: This settlement puts the geocell sheet in a tensile state.

Upward Resultant Force: The geocell membrane in a tensile state generates an upward resultant force, thereby offsetting part of the vertical load and reducing the pressure on the foundation.

3. Beam Effect

The overall stiffness of the geocell-filled layer is much higher than that of ordinary fill layers.

Stress diffusion: It acts like a flexible flat plate or a reinforced beam with a certain degree of rigidity.

Pressure distribution: It can evenly distribute concentrated vertical loads over a wider foundation area, thereby improving the bearing capacity of the ground.

Application Case

Application

Core Application Scenarios
Geocells are experts at handling complex problems, especially under harsh geological conditions:

A. Roadbed Reinforcement (Preventing Settlement)
Soft Soil Foundations: When constructing roads on silt or loose soil, laying geocells can significantly improve the bearing capacity of the foundation.

Uneven Settlement: It can act like a large "cushion," balancing ground forces and preventing road surface cracking or localized collapse.

B. Slope Protection and Greening (Erosion Control)
Soil Stabilization and Water Retention: Installing geocells on steep slopes and filling them with nutrient-rich soil can firmly fix the soil, preventing landslides caused by rainwater erosion.

Vegetation Growth: Geocells can provide a stable growth environment for plant roots, enabling "grass to grow even on rocky slopes."

C. River Management
Flood Control and Bank Protection: After being filled with stones or concrete, geocells can resist flood erosion and protect the embankments.
