Product Introduction
Biaxial geogrid is another core geosynthetic material corresponding to uniaxial geogrid. Its key characteristic is its extremely high tensile strength, exhibiting almost equal tensile strength in both the **longitudinal (machine direction) and transverse (intersecting direction)**.
If a uniaxial geogrid is a "cable" specifically designed to handle lateral tensile forces, then a biaxial geogrid is a **load-bearing support net** laid beneath the ground.
Working Principle
The core principle of bidirectional geogrids is known as Interlocking & Reinforcement:
1、Bidirectional Force Balance: Unlike unidirectional geogrids, which only handle tension in one direction, bidirectional geogrids form a stable square or rectangular mesh that can absorb load pressure from all directions simultaneously.
2、Lateral Confinement: When gravel or soil is applied to the geogrid, the stones become embedded in the mesh. The geogrid acts like a robust frame, "locking" these easily displaced stones in place and preventing them from scattering under pressure.
3、Membrane Effect:When a vehicle drives over it, the geogrid acts like a trampoline, generating minute tensions that distribute concentrated vertical loads (wheel pressure) over a wider foundation area.

Application Case
Application
Bidirectional geogrids are a standard feature in paving and foundation engineering:
1、Road and pavement reinforcement: Lay in the base layer of roads. It significantly reduces pavement thickness (saving on aggregate) and prevents washboard roads or deep ruts caused by repeated vehicle traffic.
2、Soft soil foundation treatment: When building or paving on swamps, silt, or loose soil, laying a layer of bidirectional geogrid first can prevent uneven settlement of the building (i.e., prevent the foundation from "sinking").
3、Parking lots and open-air freight yards: Especially in lawn parking lots as you previously asked, adding a layer of bidirectional geogrid as a base layer before laying grass pavers can greatly improve compressive strength.
4、Railway ballast reinforcement: Placed under the crushed stone of railway tracks, it reduces ballast displacement and wear, extending the track maintenance cycle.
